The tournament on Sunday, December 18
This was the 18th edition of the conference, which was held face-to-face for the first time in three years, and was held for the first time at the Kyoto International Conference Center, the national conference center that represents Japan.
This year's competition received a record 108 entries, of which 63 groups that passed the presenter qualification screening were divided into nine subcommittees to present their research on a wide range of themes related to urban policy, and two judges and other presenters answered questions.
After the presentations at each subcommittee, the Student Executive Committee conducts student projects. Approximately 180 people participated in the project, which challenged various quizzes about Kyoto, from lateral thinking quizzes to academic quizzes based on the purpose of the conference and the content of the presentation. Regarding this project, in which students from different universities and faculties form teams to answer quizzes, participants commented, "The student project was very fun and it was a good time for exchange," and it seems that it became a place for exchange beyond universities and faculties.
The award ceremony was held in a hall that can accommodate up to 1,200 people, and the moment the award winners were announced, the students were happy in their guts poses and the group photo was a sight unique to the first face-to-face event in three years, suggesting that this competition is a place where presenters can learn and find it rewarding.
* In view of the situation of the new coronavirus infection, we did not accept general audience participation at this conference (we have responded so that those who wish can watch the recorded presentation on the day at a later date).

We created flyers and posters for the competition and sent them out.
An explanation video of the tournament was recorded.
We decided on the catch phrase of the tournament at the meeting!
On the day of the competition, we were very busy in the morning with the reception and guidance of participants, preparation for student projects and rehearsals for the award ceremony in the afternoon.

The presentations of the subcommittees are over, and the student project has finally begun!
Participants were divided into groups and challenged various quizzes about Kyoto.
I was able to interact beyond the boundaries of universities and faculties.

We also made a staff T-shirt printed with the theme of this year's student project, "Answering correctly is not the goal"!
The Student Executive Committee members are constantly posting information on activities and competitions on SNS!
