As the globalization of higher education accelerates, such as the enhancement of support for international students and the promotion of collaborative projects with overseas universities, the English proficiency of university faculty and staff members is indispensable as a basic ability.
In addition, international students from many countries and regions have their own cultural backgrounds, and in order to communicate smoothly, it is essential to understand customs, social norms, religions, etc. beyond language.
For this reason, the University Consortium Kyoto aims to raise the level of practical skills and increase motivation to improve skills by conducting training to improve English proficiency that allows case studies assuming various situations and training to learn about cultures outside the English-speaking world.

University Introduction and Campus Tour Let's convey the charm of your university in simple English! Lecturer: Mr. Luis Issidore Bhutto

Lecturer: Mr. Marco Lobo Assuming campus tours for foreign visitors and international students and online school introductions, students will learn practical lessons about basic greetings, facility guidance, and interaction on the university campus through role plays and pair work. With more than half of the international students being Chinese students, you will learn how to facilitate communication by understanding the cultural differences with China. This course will help you understand the systematic way of thinking about Chinese culture and how it differs from Japan. You will also learn simple greetings in Chinese. |

Business English Literacy: Cross-Cultural Understanding and Communication in English at University

For staff involved in international education work at universities. Mannerisms and ways of communicating vary greatly from culture to culture. In this course, students will deepen their understanding of cultural diversity, communication styles, and business manners in order to respond to the increase in international students and foreign researchers. Through role plays and PBL (problem-solving exercises) in various situations, we aim to improve communication skills in English. |

This is an email training that understands the basic structure and phrases of English email writing, and sets the first scene you encounter while operating English mail in business, such as requests, confirmations, and notifications.
