Purpose of Establishment
In recent years, university collaborations and university consortiums through collaborations with local communities and industry have been promoted all over the country. Collaborative education and research beyond universities has now become a part of university education as a form. In addition to universities rooted in the
area, university consortiums as regional organizations established against the backdrop of the region’s history, location, and characteristics are, so to speak, efforts to deeply connect higher education institutions with the local community and realize the development of universities and the revitalization of the region.
Currently, higher education is required to ensure quality at a global level, and education and research are required to be evaluated by society. In other words, there is a demand to create distinctive education and research that meets the diverse educational needs of society. In
such an era, university consortiums, which are an important system that constitutes higher education worldwide, have the potential to realize new learning that can only be realized through collaboration and to realize the return of knowledge to society.
In the midst of this trend, we have established the National University Consortium Council, with the aim of developing collaborative education and research in Japan, which is still at a developmental stage, and by converting the “regional power” that has been cultivated in each region into “organizational power,” we hope to provide a new forum for research exchange where content can be shared among universities.
